Reservations

If you want to plan your trip to one of Louisiana’s state parks in advance, reservations may be made through State Park's Reservation Call Center at 1-833-609-0686 or ONLINEYou can now also check out availability for the upcoming weekend, by clicking HERE. Online reservations are accessible 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. CST, and the Call Center operates from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, and is closed on state holidays including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Reservations may be made for cabins, lodges, group camps, campsites, meeting rooms, and rental picnic pavilions; reservations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the date(s) desired and can be made up to 13 months in advance (click HERE for additional information on the 13-month policy). Specific cabin, campsite and picnic pavilion locations may be reserved in advance. Facilities not reserved in advance are available to visitors who come directly to the park. Walk-in and drive-up users are welcome without a reservation. 

Reloadable gift cards are now available and can be purchased at your local state park or by calling the main office at 225-342-8111 or ONLINE. The gift cards can be purchased for any value with a $5 minimum, and are a great way to share the gift of Louisiana State Parks with your family and friends.

Overnight Reservations

Cabins, Lodges, Group Camps and Campsites
Overnight reservations may be made for cabins, lodges, group camps and campsites. Reservations for overnight use may be made by calling the Call Center at 1-833-609-0686, or ONLINEA $4.5 non-refundable fee will be assessed on each reservation transaction made online, via phone, or as a walk-in. An advance deposit of a single night's stay is required for each facility reserved in advance and must be received within ten days of the date of the request or the reservation will be canceled. Deposits will be applied to the first night's or day's use. For reservations made 10 to 13 months prior to the arrival date, the entire reservation balance must be received within 30 days of the date of the request.

Cancellation of reservations made 10 to 13 months prior to arrival will result in a one-day's rental charge for each facility reserved. Cancellation fees, for each facility reserved within the 9-month window, are $10 for reservations canceled 15 days or more prior to arrival, and a one-day's rental within 14 days of arrival. A change in dates or a change in parks will be treated as a cancellation and a new reservation must be made. There is no fee to transfer from site to site within a park.

Payment may be made by cash, Discover, Mastercard, VISA, in-state personal check or money order. If the reservation is made within 14 days or less of the usage date, payment will be made by credit card only. For reservation inquiries, changes, transfers, or cancellations, call the Call Center at 1-833-609-0686.

For cabins, lodges, group camps, campsites and group camping areas, the minimum reservation period for a weekend is two nights.

The maximum stay for cabins, lodges, group camps and campsites is 15 consecutive days. Long-term stays are available at select parks, at the manager's discretion. Contact the park directly, to inquire about long-term stays.

The normal campsite rate (less applicable discounts) will be charged for each site rented. A camper or cabin user reserving multiple sites or cabins must pay a deposit for each site reserved. Applicable discounts apply to the campsite rate but do not apply to the reservation fee. The deposit will be applied to the first night's use.

  • $80 Annual Park Pass - valid for day use at all sites and can be purchased at any state park, for 12 months from the date of purchase. All people accompanying a permit holder as occupants in a single, private non-commercial vehicle in which the permit holder is a passenger or driver are provided for in the Annual Pass admission.
     
  • Free admission to all sites is provided for Disabled Veterans, and those accompanying them in a single private vehicle, with State Park Permit. Eligible veterans may apply for the permit by contacting their local parish veterans service office. Click here for contact information for the parish offices.
     
  • Active duty military personnel and one immediate family member receive a 50% discount for day use entry to a state park, historic site or world heritage site by presenting a current, valid military photo ID.
  • Free admission is provided to all sites for school groups (including bus driver and chaperones) on field trips. Field trip must be arranged in advance with park staff.
    • Note: Free admission to Rosedown Plantation for school groups is limited to self-guided grounds and garden tours only. Field trip tours of the main plantation house require a $4 per student charge. (Teachers/chaperones are admitted free to the main plantation house while accompanying a scheduled field trip group when the students tour the house.)
  • A Bus Permit is required for all holidays and weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day for entry into any recreational (State Park) site. Contact the destination park site in advance to arrange a Bus Permit.
  • A $75 Bus Fee is charged for any bus used as a public conveyance to any recreational (State Park) site. (Exclusions: school buses transporting students on pre-arranged field trips and commercial tour buses.)
     
  • A $10/cart per day Personal Golf Cart Use Fee at state parks (state historic sites excluded); a $100 annual permit can be purchased through the Main Office (225.342.8111). Proof of cart insurance required; must be operated by a licensed driver.

Louisiana State Parks would be honored to host your special day. If you wish you use one of the pavilions or meeting room facilities that can be booked through the Reservation System, you may do so by calling 1-833-609-0686 or ONLINE. There is a $300 wedding fee associated with holding a wedding on Louisiana Office of State Parks property.  We ask that you also contact the manager of the site in which you are interested, to determine if there are any requirements specific to that site.

If you are interested in a historic site, the preservation area or a part of a recreational site that is not normally rented through the Reservation System, then arrangements must be made through the site's manager.

Swimming
  • Use of all day-use pools is included with payment of entrance fee. Parks with day-use pools: Chemin-A-Haut, Lake D'Arbonne and North Toledo Bend; Bayou Segnette offers a wave pool that operates on the same schedule as swimming pools, but has a fee in addition to the park entrance fee.
     

    Be advised of the following regulations for Louisiana State Parks' swimming pools (Title 25, Part IX, §314. Swimming):

    • All children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult at any swimming area.
    • Glass containers of any kind are prohibited within any perimeter boundaries of pools, enclosed swimming areas, enclosed beach areas, water playgrounds and beach parks.
    • Only Coast Guard-approved Type I or Type II Personal Flotation Devices are allowed in swimming areas, with the exception of flotation devices provided at the Bayou Segnette State Park wave pool.
  • Pools are open Memorial Day weekend to August 1 and closed Monday-Wednesday for maintenance, except for holiday Mondays. When pools are open on a holiday Monday, the pools will be closed for maintenance on the Tuesday-Thursday following the holiday Monday.
  • From August 1 through Labor Day, pools will be open on modified schedules. Please check with the individual parks for specific days and hours of operation. All pool schedules are subject to change.

Beach swimming areas are open year-round at Cypremort Point, Fontainebleau, Grand Isle, Jimmie Davis Lake Bruin, Lake Claiborne, Poverty Point Reservoir and South Toledo Bend State Parks. Swimming is allowed from sunrise to sunset.

Water Playgrounds
Louisiana State Parks' water playgrounds operate Tuesdays through Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; the facilities will be closed on Mondays for cleaning and maintenance. Contact the park directly, to confirm specific operating schedules. Water playgrounds are located at Bogue Chitto, Chicot, Fontainebleau, Jimmie Davis, Lake Bruin, Lake Fausse Pointe, Palmetto Island, St. Bernard, and Tickfaw State Parks.

Trails

Equestrian trails
Equestrian trails at State Parks sites are open to riders and their own horses. There is an equestrian trail fee of $3/horse per day, in addition to the day-use entrance of $3 per person; overnight campsites can be rented for $22 to $28 per night, plus tax. Certification of a clean Coggins test is required for all horses brought on State Park property. It is recommended that you call ahead for the status of the trail.

Bogue Chitto State Park (985-839-5707) - A 14-mile trail winds through some of the most interesting topography of southern Louisiana, with gullies and bluffs hosting a variety of wildlife to encounter. The trailhead is located near Fricke's Cave, just inside the park. Bogue Chitto State Park is located off Hwy. 25, about 5 miles south of Franklinton.

Chemin-A-Haut State Park (318-283-0812) - Located 10 miles north of Bastrop in Morehouse Parish, this park has an eight-mile equestrian trail loop. Beginning at the campground where riders can overnight with their horses, the trail goes through mixed pine and hardwood forest, bottomland cypress flats and along Chemin-A-Haut creek.

Lake Bistineau State Park (318-745-3503) - On the equestrian trail at Lake Bistineau State Park, a variety of wildlife can be seen as the trail winds 6.5 miles through pine and hardwood forests and along Bistineau Lake. The relatively flat terrain allows for a relaxed, comfortable ride. Stalls, a paddock and a corral are provided free of charge to accommodate horses overnight. Lake Bistineau State Park is located 40 minutes southeast of Shreveport in Webster Parish.

 

Bike Trails

In addition to the bike trails inside of some of Louisiana's State Parks, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development also oversees many bike trails throughout the state. Click HERE for maps of the trail systems.

Pets

Visitors and their pets can enjoy the trails and outdoor spaces at Louisiana State Parks provided pets are on a leash no more than 6 feet in length, caged or crated. Dogs and other pets are not allowed to run freely on park property.

Dogs are only permitted within pet-friendly designated cabins. Pet owners are responsible for any injury or damage caused by their pets. There is a surcharge of forty dollars ($40) per dog to cover their stay, with a maximum of two dogs per cabin.

Pets, except for service animals, are prohibited in all group camps, other enclosed structures, swimming areas and cabins not designated as dog friendly.
