Chicot State Park is housing some COVID-19 patients who are recovering safely in isolation on the Northside of the park. Since the Lake Chicot Loop Trail goes through the North and the backside of the campground, all but 2-miles of that trail remain closed. It also means that only 1 backpacking site is open (#2). Here's a summary of our hiking trails and their status:

Hurricane Delta 10/8/2020

Multiple Louisiana State Parks and Historic Sites were affected by Hurricanes Laura and Delta. Nearly all parks and historic sites have recovered and reopened except for:

CYPREMORT STATE PARK in Cypremort. TBD, a reopening date in Nov. 2020 

SAM HOUSTON JONES STATE PARK in Lake Charles. TBD, a reopening date in late 2021

If you had reservations at one of these parks, you will receive a full refund because they are closed.

Due to hurricane damage, St. Bernard State Park has no phone access. We are currently working on the situation and are told it will be resolved after Thanksgiving. If you are calling the main number it will ring and ring with no answer. We apologize for this inconvenience.
