Native Habitat Restoration
Duties:
Volunteers will manually remove invasive plants and plant native species.
Qualifications:
No prior experience is necessary and a short training and introduction will be provided at the beginning. Registration is required and to do so please call the park at 1-225-635-3739. Volunteers 15 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Our Purpose:
To restore the look of the park to a woodland here in 1821 that John J. Audubon describes in his journal through the removal of invasive plants and the planting of native species.
Long Term Benefits:
Our volunteers will immediately be able to see how their efforts have had a positive impact on parkland as a more aesthetically pleasing vista, improve the quality of habitat for local wildlife, and recreate the world that the artist naturalist John J. Audubon saw here in 1821.
