Plants with a Purpose: Wild plants, wisdom-inspired, knowledge for everyone.

Discover the edible and medicinal plants of Fontainebleau! Join the Interpretive Ranger for a short lecture in our Conference Room, followed by a guided walk (weather permitting) exploring the hidden pantry and pharmacy of the forest and marshes. Along the way, you'll learn how people once identified, used, and respected the edible and medicinal plants of this region. This program is for educational purposes only. No collecting or tasting will take place within the park.

Tour will begin at the Visitors Center each 2nd/4th Saturday morning at 10:00. Routes vary and change according to the season, so every session will have some differences. There is no registration or added fees required but check in on our Facebook event if you would like.

Total walking distance around 1-1/4 miles. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear. Walks subject to the weather.

Items you may want to bring: Clipboard, notebook/sketch book, writing/drawing utensils, camera, walking stick, bug spray, and an appetite for learning.

ADA: Visitors with disabilities who would like to enjoy the trails may request use of the Action Trackchair (affectionately known as "the Tank"), which provides full mobility throughout the park.
