Notice of Intent

The Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, Office of State Parks filed a Notice of Intent with the State Register giving public notice that the Department proposes to adopt additions, revisions, and deletions to LAC 25:IX.101, 303, 305, 307, 308, 309, 313, 321, 331, 500, 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, 506, and 507 as follows: 

  • Campsites/Cabins/Lodges: Standardizes and consolidates overnight rates from seasonal/weekday/weekend rates to one rate all year. Increase demand-based pricing maximum for campsites from $40 to $75.
  • Group Camps: 1) adds $5 attendee fee, and 2) increases overnight rates based on group camp’s facility (age, amenities, etc.) with nightly rental rate ranging from $400 to $700 (rates previously ranged from $240 to $600 depending on class I, II, or III classification). Also, increase to demand-based pricing maximum rate for group camps proposed at $2,500 per night (up from $1,000 per night).
  • State Historic Sites: Standardizes general admission fees for all sites (except Rosedown) to $6 for ages 7 to 61 (increase varies by site, average is $3), $4 for 62 and over (previously free), and free for children 6 and under (previously only free for 3 and under). Adds fees for guided house tours at $10 for ages 7 to 61, $8 for ages 62 and over, and free for children 6 and under.
  • Rosedown general admission is proposed at $7 for ages 7 to 61 (down from $12), $5 for ages 62 and over (down from $10), and free for children 6 and under (previously only free for 3 and under). Guided house tour fees changed to $12 for ages 6 to 71 (up from $7), $10 for ages 62 and over (up from $7), and free for children 6 and under (previously only free for 3 and under). 
  • Annual Day-Use Permits: Increase from $80 to $100 
  • Language clean up, formatting, minor policy edits   

The proposed Rule is promulgated in accordance with the provisions of the Administrative Procedure Act, R.S. 49:950 et seq. The proposed Rule change is made in accordance with R.S. 36:204, which gives the secretary of culture, recreation and tourism the authority to make, alter, amend, and promulgate rules and regulations necessary for the administration of the functions of the department in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act. The Notice of Intent will be published in the December 20, 2024, State Register.

Interested persons may submit written comments, data, opinions, and arguments regarding the proposed Rule. Written submissions must be directed to Brett Sandifer, Louisiana Office of State Parks, 1051 N. Third Street, Third Floor, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70802 and must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on January 10, 2024.

The anticipated effective date for the proposed rule or fee is JULY 1, 2025.
