New campground at Cypremort Point State Park coming soon

CYPREMORT POINT, La. - Louisiana Office of State Parks Assistant Secretary Brandon Burris announces Cypremort Point State Park will start taking reservations tomorrow, March 12, for the new 22-site RV campground on the shore of Vermilion Bay.

"We are excited to welcome guests to this brand new campground at Cypremort Point State Park just in time for spring break,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “The area is a fisherman’s paradise so we expect campsites will book up quickly.”

All campsites offer 16-foot wide by 80-foot long pull-through, ADA accessible concrete pads with full sewer, water, and electric hookups for recreational vehicles and campers.

In addition to the new campground, overnight visitors will find accommodations from tent camping to six newly updated two-bedroom cabins that sleep up to eight.

Park additions were funded in part through a Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority grant.

The 185-acre park is located in the heart of a Louisiana marsh. A marsh boardwalk with a covered outdoor classroom allows visitors to get a close up view of the abundant wildlife. A half-mile stretch of sandy beach provides an area for relaxing, picnicking and enjoying the water. It also affords an opportunity for fishing, crabbing, water skiing, windsurfing, and sailing. For those interested in fishing from the shore, two large concrete fishing areas are located on the north and south ends of the park. The south area includes a fish-cleaning station, kayak launch, built-in rod holders, and lighting.

Cypremort Point State Park is located 25 miles south of New Iberia, off LA Highway 319. Plan your stay at LaStateParks.com or by calling 337-867-4510.
