GRANT DEADLINE SET FOR RECREATIONAL TRAILS PROGRAM IN LOUISIANA

Applications for the Federal Highway Administration’s Recreational Trails Program for Louisiana (RTPL) are due to the Louisiana Office of State Parks, Division of Outdoor Recreation no later than Monday, July 3, 2023.

The RTPL is an 80/20 reimbursement cost-share program that helps states provide and maintain recreational trails such as pedestrian (hiking, running, wheelchair use), bicycling, in-line skating, equestrian, off-road motorcycling, all-terrain vehicle riding, four-wheel driving and other off-road motorized vehicles. Grant requests seeking financial support from the RTPL may be used for acquiring and/or development of outdoor recreational trails and trail facilities.

The program is open to political subdivisions, non-profit organizations and, under certain circumstances, commercial entities.

RTPL has provided over $39 million to Louisiana since 1993, funding more than 450 recreational trail projects throughout Louisiana including motorized (ATVs, OHVs, motorcycles, etc.), bicycle, mountain bike, paddling, equestrian, and hiking/walking trails.
