The old ways

The Old Ways is a hands-on living history program exploring the traditional crafts and skills used by people in Louisiana and the early American South from approximately 1770–1830. Before modern machinery and mass-produced goods, everyday objects were made by hand using locally available materials and specialized skills.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see historic crafts demonstrated and, when appropriate, try their hand at some of the techniques themselves. The program will emphasize the knowledge, tools, labor, and materials required to produce ordinary household and agricultural items during the period. Demonstrations may include. Black smithing, wood working, spinning. candle making. Our usual grounds fee apply.
