STORYWALK AUTHOR DAY WITH SHANNON KELLEY ATWATER

Come meet Louisiana author and illustrator Shannon Kelley Atwater, the creative mind behind Alligators Don't Like Flowers, on March 14th at the Kids Trail during the March Dutch Oven Gathering at Palmetto Island State Park. Her heartwarming story follows Angelo, a gentle alligator who discovers that loving flowers and being different can bring a whole community together, sharing a message of friendship, individuality, and acceptance through bright, expressive illustrations. Shannon is a Louisiana-based artist who turned her lifelong love of drawing into a career as an author and illustrator, creating stories that celebrate imagination, kindness, and community. Families can also enjoy the book as part of our StoryWalk; it will be featured on the Kids Trail all month long during regular park hours, making this a perfect chance to read the story on the trail and then meet the author in person.
