SHAPE NOTES IN GOSPEL MUSIC

Guests and those interested in music history are invited out to Rebel SHS to join us in learning about the use of shape notes in gospel music.  Shape notes were a technique used in early singing schools to help singers associate a note of the scale with a shape, and a syllable to help facilitate musical learning.  The program will include a discussion on the history of shape notes, the different shape note systems, and an enjoyable attempt to learn a song based on the technique.  For more information contact us at 318-472-6255
