Seasonal Cooking

Join Ranger Matthew in Oakley’s historic kitchen for an ongoing cooking demonstration that brings the past to life! Watch as he demonstrates early 19th-century cooking techniques using the kitchen’s original fireplace and shares how meals were prepared during Oakley’s early years.
Come warm up around the hearth this November and experience the comforting sights, sounds, and smells of an authentic 19th-century kitchen. On November 14, we will be preparing two seasonal recipes over the open hearth: apple coffee cake and pumpkin pudding. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample these historic recipes at no additional cost.
The cooking demonstration will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
