NIGHT HIKE
NIGHT HIKE
AT POVERTY POINT WORLD HERITAGE SITE
Pioneer, La. - Visitors are welcome to a special night hike at Poverty Point World Heritage Site on Saturday, November 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This two-mile hike will touch on the natural and cultural world of the Indigenous people who once lived on site over 3,000 years ago. Rangers will lead the way to check out nocturnal animals along with the mounds and earthworks on the trail. The hike will end with a small bonfire and storytelling with tales selected from different native tribes in the Eastern Woodlands.
The Night Hike is limited to 50 participants. Please call or email the site to register your group!
Visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights in order to participate in spider sniffing. Proper hiking attire and footwear is also recommended, especially if it happens to be muddy on the trail. We look forward to seeing everyone for a fun Night Hike!
