NATIONAL DAY OF THE ACADIANS AT LONGFELLOW
La Fete Nationale de l'Acadie (National Acadian Day) celebration continues on Saturday at Longfellow with brown cotton spinning and weaving and a bal de maison (house dance) in the Acadian cabin!
From 10 a.m. to noon in the AV room, Elaine Larcade Bourque will present the nearly lost fiber art of spinning and weaving brown cotton and relate fascinating stories of Louisiana Acadian textile makers.
From 2 to 4 p.m., step into the Acadian Cabin, where the old-fashioned rhythms of Cajun fiddle tunes will fill the room, inviting guests to tap their toes, clap along, or join in for a lively afternoon of traditional dancing.
Coffee and light refreshments will be served at each presentation. Headed to the house dance? You're welcome to sit on the porch or under a shady tree!
Hours of Operation: 9AM to 5PM
