LIVING HISTORY THURSDAYS: SCHOOL GROUPS
Pre-registered school groups are invited to take a tour on any Thursday throughout the school year. Led by interpretive rangers in period appropriate costumes, students will watch a short introductory video, tour the Maison Olivier and its outer buildings. Students will then continue to the Acadian Cabin in order to better compare plantation life to the life of an Acadian Yeoman farmer. If time allows, groups are welcome to explore our Acadian Farmstead area. Cool demonstrations like: spinning, weaving, furs/hides, blacksmithing, toys and games, or the firing of black powder weapons are typically available upon request.
Longfellow Evangeline SHS is the first state park located on the scenic Bayou Teche. We preserve, protect, and present the history of the Creole, Acadian, and enslaved settlers who made Louisiana such a rich cultural treasure. Hope to see you soon.
Hours of Operation: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Schools wishing to participate in this program can call 337.394.3754 to register.
