LENTEN PLAY PARTY

In the solemn time of fasting and prayer between Mardi Gras and Easter, Louisiana Acadians and Creoles of the 19th century set aside their instruments and put house dances on hold. However, play parties after Sunday Mass allowed all ages to gather for a cappella singing and games at Lenten play parties.
