International Day of Francophonie
L’Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie represents countries and areas that are French-speaking and/or have a notable affiliation with French culture.
In recognition of the International Day of Francophonie on March 20, Longfellow-Evangeline will offer regular and special French activities during the month of March.
- French-language tours in period costume and activities such as old-fashioned games and a chance to try chores from the past will continue to be offered to pre-registered French immersion school groups.
- The March 11 contradance will include 2 songs called in French.
- The March 18 Table chantante French singalong will have La Fête du Carême Lenten Play Party as its theme. Traditional Louisiana French games and round dancing to a capella French songs and games will be offered to children and adults.
- La Chorale de la Table chantante, a new community choir forming for singing 19th century Louisiana French music in a choral style, will welcome new members and begin a rehearsal series.
