HOMESTEADING- DISCOVER WILD EDIBLES
May 02, 2026 9:30 am
- 12:00 pm
Beginning in May, Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site will be partnering with the LSU Agricultural Center to present a series of homesteading seminars. From canning, to preserving meats, to gardening, LESHS and the Ag Center will provide hands on demonstrations of traditional homesteading skills. May's class, hosted by Trees Acadiana President Kiera Frey, will begin with a brief Powerpoint presentation on local wild edible plants, followed by a trail walk to harvest and eat said greenstuffs. Staff will provide brunch, as the event coincides with LESH's monthly campfire cooking demonstration.
