HOMESTEAD ARTS: TINCTURES, TONICS, & TREATMENTS

Guests are invited to learn the history of how herbal remedies and medical tonics and treatments were crafted on the frontier in the 1800s.  Watch a living historian demonstrate how historic medicinal tinctures, tonics, teas, and salves were created.  Ask questions about the historic herbal medications and medical techniques that would have been used at Fort Jesup's Military Hospital in the 1830s.  Learn about how settlers on the frontier would have grown their own herb gardens and foraged for medicinal plants as well.  For more information contact us at 318-256-4117.
