Historic Native Plant Use

April 06, 2024 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join Audubon State Historic Site on April 6 for a program on historic native plant use . The program will be offered at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. In 1821 the people who lived on Oakley Plantation both Enslaved and Free still depended on native plants to provide a wide variety of food, medicine, tools and other necessities. Many of these plants are still found on Audubon State Historic Site today. Join a park interpreter for a leisurely walk to discover some of the many uses of our native plants. This is a walking activity and may be cancelled due to inclement weather. An admission is charged.  For more information please call the park at 1-225-635-3739.
