GRAND OPENING OF THE STORY WALK

September 14, 2024 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Story Walk on the kid's trail, scheduled for September 14th at 10:00am. This event is a fantastic example of how community events can play a crucial role in promoting literacy among children. By integrating stories with physical activities, we create a dynamic and engaging environment where kids can develop their reading skills while enjoying the outdoors. Such events not only make reading fun but also help in improving comprehension abilities as they interact with the story in a unique and memorable way.

One of the highlights of the event will be a meet-the-author session with Stacy Bearden, the author and illustrator of 'Boudreaux the Louisiana Mosquiteaux.' This unique opportunity allows children to connect with the creator of a story, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the art of storytelling. Additionally, the Latanier Cookers will be preparing a delicious Jambalaya, to be served around 11:00am, showcasing the value of community collaboration. When local talents and groups come together, it not only enriches the event but also creates a strong support system that encourages children to embrace reading and learning in a communal setting.

We look forward to seeing you at the Story Walk grand opening to celebrate community, literacy, and the joy of reading.
