Ghost Ships on the River

Visitors are invited to a nighttime program at Port Hudson State Historic Site on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. A park ranger will lead a tour to Fort Desperate and share stories of paranormal phenomena that has occurred on the battlefield.  Following the tour we will have a night-time firing of the 42-pounder cannon.  After the cannon firing, we move to the pond area and have a pyrotechnic demonstration using our model ship fleet recreating the night-time Port Hudson attack during the spring of 1863, and the ultimate destruction of the USS Mississippi.
