Frontier of Freedom: Louisiana's Legacy in the American Story is an occasion for guests to join us at Fort Jesup and learn about the beginnings of our nation and our areas impact on that journey.  The gates to the park will open at 9:00 a.m. and music will begin around 9:30a.m.  The program includes a ceremony which will start at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:15 that will include speakers, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and firing of the muskets.  There will also be historic demonstrations on the grounds of Fort Jesup starting at 11:30 a.m., including candle making, open hearth cooking, military drills, talks on the Galvez Expedition and Louisiana's Role in the Revolution, and more.  Guests are invited to come out and learn about Louisiana's Role in the shaping of our nation.
