Fort Jesup Begins!

Everyone is invited to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the original opening of Fort Jesup.  The Fort was declared officially open on May 13, 1822.  Celebrations at Fort Jesup State Historic Site will begin Friday, May 13  with speakers during the day discussing topics of the times including Women on the Frontier, Medicine in the 1800s, and more.  The Friends group also plans a set of activities for the evening of the 13th as well.  Then join us for a Living History day on Saturday, May 14where there will be different historic demonstrations including period Military demonstrations, Historic Medical talks, Women's Life on the frontier, and many others.  For more information contact us at 318-256-4117
