FORT DESPERATE HIKE

Join a park ranger on a guided tour to Fort Desperate! After meeting at the museum, visitors will receive a brief introduction to the history of the site and a guided tour of the museum's exhibits before beginning the hike to Fort Desperate. Discover why the defenders refused to yield their ground during their bloody struggle against ferocious attacks by numerous brigades of blue-clad warriors from the North during the horrible 48-day siege. Visitors are encouraged to bring water, insect repellent, and wear closed-toe shoes. Park admission is $4.00 per person with children 3 and under and seniors 62 and above admitted free.
