Catching Fire

February 05, 2022 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Visitors are invited to discover fire with the help of park interpreters during this unique program set for Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Once, something as simple as the ability to create fire could be life or death in an early Louisiana.   Guests will get plenty of hands-on opportunities to try out different fire making devices used through the years.  Guests can try their hand at making a spark using flint and steel; experience how long it takes to create a smouldering ember using a fire bow and experiment with both friction and compression methods to create the start of a fire. See how to make your own fire bundle.
Event is outside and weather is a consideration. For more information please call the park at 225-635-3739.
