A SOLDIER'S WIFE

Guests are welcomed out to Fort Jesup to see what it was like to be a soldier's wife in the army in the 1820s & 1830s.  There will be a discussion on the differences in social standing between an enlisted soldier's wife and an officer's wife for the time period.  There will also be demonstrations of the homesteading skills that would be needed by women on the frontier such as butter churning, spinning, washing, and more.  For more information please contact 318-256-4117.
