For a great event for kids over Thanksgiving weekend, bring them to Poverty Point World Heritage Site to make sock moccasins. Participants can take a pair of socks and create moccasins much like the native Americans of the area once did. The event is set for 9:30 - 11 a.m., on Saturday, November 28. This program, for children 6-12 years of age, will be held under the picnic pavilion. The site will supply the socks and trim, while you supply the creative ideas. Design the colors to go on your moccasins or put ribbons on them. Take advantage of this family day at Poverty Point World Heritage Site. We also require visitors to wear masks during the program and to respect social distancing practices. For more information, contact the site at 318-926-5403.
