Revolutionary War Living History Encampment

The park remembers the 242nd Anniversary of the 1779 Revolutionary War Battle for Baton Rouge. This battle, the largest Revolutionary War Battle this far west in the British Colonies and saw the founder of Oakley Plantation as a soldier in the ranks, will be celebrated through a day of Living History activities. The event is set for Saturday, October 28 & 29 2023. These activities bring that early time alive through weapons demonstrations, cannon demonstrations, tactical and drill demonstrations, along with open hearth cooking and period craft demonstrations. As part of the festivities there will be a recreated skirmish by Revolutionary War reenactors at 2:00 PM on Saturday and 1:00 PM on Sunday.   Admission is charged.
