Visitors are encouraged to come to Poverty Point World Heritage Site for a ranger-guided hike at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, April 24. Participants can enjoy the 2.6 mile hiking trail while on a guided tour around the unique prehistoric earthworks located on the site. There will be a discussion on the earthworks and how the mounds were built, along with any other wonders of nature seen along the way.
The ranger-guided hike is limited to 30 participants. Please call or email the site to register your group. Visitors must wear masks during the program and respect social distancing practices. Don't forget the comfortable clothes and walking shoes; visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch.
