The following parks received significant damage from Hurricane Ida and are operating on a modified basis as follows:
Bayou Segnette State Park - sustained major flooding and downed trees and will remain closed until further notice. The boat launch is OPEN.
Fontainebleau State Park - campgrounds reopened September 24. Cabins remain closed until further notice.
Grand Isle State Park - sustained serious damage and will remain closed until further notice.
The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will be drawing down Lake Bistineau, effective July 20. The boat launch will be closed and boat rentals will be suspended for the duration of the drawdown, as water levels will be too low to safely boat in the vicinity of the park. Fontainebleau State Park is excited about the upcoming Independence Day holiday weekend and wants to share with its guests some information to help reduce traffic so they can enjoy more time at the park and less time getting to the park.
