Chicot State Park

Oct. 1 – Spider Guided Hike at 10 a.m., Arboretum Nature Center

Oct. 8 - Owls of Louisiana at 10 a.m., Arboretum Nature Center- After the presentation, we will hike through two habitats known to feature owls in the Arboretum.

Oct. 15 - Bats of Louisiana at 2 p.m., Arboretum Nature Center- The program will be followed by a bat craft.

Oct. 22 – Trick-or-Treating in the campground from 4-6 p.m. Visitors and guests are invited to participate in both campgrounds. Campers are invited to decorate their sites and hand out candy. Roads leading in the campgrounds will be closed to vehicles during this time.

Cypremort Point State Park

Oct. 2 - Reverse tie-dye shirts from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Bring own blk./orange shirt.   

Oct. 8 - Pumpkin painting from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Leave your mark at the park and decorate a wooden pumpkin cut out which will decorate the park during the month of October

Oct. 16 - Face painting / arts and crafts from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

Oct. 23 -Witches hut begins at 5 p.m.             

Oct. 30 - Halloween extravaganza at the park from 4-8 p.m. There will be a costume contest, sweets walk, trunk-or-treat, hayride and a haunted cabin.          

 

Fairview-Riverside State Park

Oct. 1- Scavenger hunt for hidden Halloween candy and other prizes from 1 - 3 p.m.

Oct. 8 - Program with traveling interpretive ranger begins at 11 a.m.

Oct. 15 - Movie night in the campground with jumbo screen, popcorn and candy available, begins at dark.

Oct. 22 - Fall fest, campers set up mini games for the kids to play and hand out candy, begins at 1 p.m.

Oct. 29- Trick or-treating from 4-6 p.m.; live music begins at 6:30 p.m.

 

Fontainebleau State Park

Oct. 1 – Nocturnal hay ride from 7-8 p.m.

Oct. 8- Bring your own pumpkin to decorate at the visitor’s center from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Oct. 15-Spooky hayride from 7-8 p.m., followed by s’mores and bonfire in the campground

Lake Bruin State Park

Oct. 1 - Scavenger hunt from 5-7 p.m.; campers encouraged to decorate their campsites.

Oct. 8 - Golf cart decorating and parade in the campground from 5-7 p.m. (permit, driver’s license, insurance, etc.). Campers encouraged to decorate their campsites.

Oct. 15 - Pumpkin decorating at the pavilion from 5-7 p.m.

Oct. 22 - Halloween games at the pavilion.

Oct. 29 – Trick-or-Treating in the campground from 4-6 p.m. Only foot traffic will be permitted within the campground during this time.

 

Lake Claiborne State Park

Oct. 1 - Pumpkin decorating contest from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Oct. 8 - Hot chocolate and movie  on the beach from 7-9 p.m.

Oct. 15 – Hay Ride from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Oct. 22 - Campsite decorating contest, judging begins at 7 p.m.

Oct. 29 - Trick-or-treating in the campground from 4:30 -6:30 p.m. Only foot traffic will be permitted within the campground during this time. Movie on the beach from 7-9 p.m.

 

Lake D’Arbonne­ State Park

Palmetto State Park

Port Hudson State Historic Site

Oct. 22 – Bivouac of the Dead, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. In conjunction with Halloween, see and hear about American Civil War burial practices. The program will cover the various ways both Union and Confederate soldiers were laid to rest.

 

 

Poverty Point World Heritage Site

Oct. 29-Halloween Pottery from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Visitors will learn about the pottery used by Native Americans at Poverty Point 3,500 years ago, have a chance to create their own pottery and enjoy a few Halloween treats, too. Visitors are encouraged to dress appropriately for a potentially messy program and bring a trick-or treat bag.

 

Rebel Museum

Oct. 28 – Haunted museum from 7-10 p.m.

 

Sam Houston Jones State Park

Oct. 1-Guided hike with SWLA Master Naturalist Society from 8-10 a.m.

Oct. 8-Gators and a movie, concessions available, begins at 7 p.m.

Oct. 15-Fall fest with food and refreshment vendors, arts and craft booths, games, inflatables and more from 3-7 p.m.

Oct. 22 – Intro to fishing with La. Wildlife & Fisheries from 8-10 a.m., spooky-kids trail with games, fall-themed crafts and hayrides from 5-7 p.m.

Oct. 29-Trunk-or-treating, crew, volunteers and campers will hand out candy and goody bags in the day-use area from 5-7 p.m.

 

South Toledo Bend State Park

Oct. 15 – Scary-animals video followed by show and tell, begins at 2 p.m.

Oct. 22 – Movie followed by coloring activity, begins at 11 a.m.

Oct. 29 – Halloween videos from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Trick-or-treating from 5-7 p.m. in campground

All boardwalk trails at Tickfaw State Park are currently closed due to severe damage caused by Hurricane Ida.  Canoe rentals are also currently unavailable.  Two trails are currently open to the public – the hardwood trail and the trail around the fishing pond.

The following parks received significant damage from Hurricane Ida in 2021 :

Fontainebleau State Park  - campgrounds reopened Sept. 24. Cabins remain closed until further notice.

Grand Isle State Park - sustained serious damage and will remain closed until further notice.
